Welcome to The Saints Academy

4th grade with welcome back sign

The Saints Academy was established in 2016 through the unification of our two local Catholic Schools, St. John the Evangelist and St. Mary Star of the Sea, because of a desire to keep Catholic education in our city.  We are now Beverly's lone Catholic coeducational PreK through grade eight school and we consider ourselves an ideal choice for parents on the North Shore.  We currently have students from sixteen communities: Beverly, Boxford, Essex, Gloucester, Hamilton, Ipswich, Lynn, Marblehead, Middleton, Newbury, Peabody, Rockport, Salem, Swampscott, Wenham, and Kingston NH.   At The Saints Academy, through our five core values of Discipleship, Partnership, Scholarship, Leadership, and Citizenship, we endeavor to provide an environment that fosters each of these values throughout the school day and into the daily lives of our students.   Welcome to The Saints Academy!

 Welcome from the Principal
It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm   that I extend a warm welcome to each of   you to The Saints Academy. I am the proud   Principal of this school where faith, learning,   and community intertwine to shape young   minds and hearts.
At The Saints Academy, we believe in fostering an environment where every individual can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We offer a strong spiritual foundation, based in the teachings of the Catholic Church.  We endeavor to provide an environment that promotes our five core values of Discipleship, Partnership, Scholarship, Leadership, and Citizenship throughout the school day and into the daily lives of our students.

My name is Kelly Fernald and I have been the Principal at The Saints Academy since 2018.  I received my Bachelors in Elementary Education from St. Bonaventure University, and both my Masters in Education and my CAGS in Educational leadership from Salem State University.  I feel like I have always been a part of a Catholic School community.  I went to Catholic school from Kindergarten (SMA Danvers ‘89 & Bishop Fenwick ‘93) through my Bachelor’s degree (St, Bonaventure University ‘97), I student taught in a Catholic school, and spent my teaching career at Catholic elementary schools. I have over 20 years of experience in Catholic education.  I started my teaching career in the intermediate grades (grades 3-5) at St. Mel Independent Day School in Gloucester.  Then I moved to St. John the Evangelist (one of our founding/merged schools) and taught the Fifth Grade from 2004 through the very first year of The Saints Academy.  After spending one year as the full time Assistant Principal, I was given the opportunity to become the Principal.  And, I am also the proud parent of an alum of The Saints Academy class of 2021. It truly is my pleasure to be a part of this wonderful community.
